Savour Canada Raises Over $210,000 for HSC

Posted: March 6, 2017

March 6, 2017 – The Health Sciences Centre Foundation is excited to announce that the 7th annual Savour: Wine & Food Experience, presented by Qualico and in partnership with Manitoba Liquor Marts, has raised over $210,000 to support life-saving care and research at HSC Winnipeg.  This year’s edition of Savour took place on Saturday, March 4 at the RBC Convention Centre.  Guests enjoyed a unique evening of food, wine, entertainment, and décor inspired by Canada.

"Canada was a fitting theme given it is our country’s 150th anniversary this year, and it was certainly a hit with guests! It was great to see once again how this community comes together to support the HSC and the families that benefit from this place of healing,” said Jonathon Lyon, President of the HSC Foundation. "When people support the HSC Foundation at events like Savour, they are making a profound difference in the lives of patients.  I want to thank our guests, our generous sponsors, Foundation staff and volunteers who have put in many hours to provide us all with a memorable evening.”

Guests who attended the event were treated to a true "canuck” experience, complete with live dancing from the Aboriginal School of Dance, a roaming Mountie, and Canadian-inspired food and wines.  Winnipeg band Almost Famous rocked the dance floor, making for an unforgettable evening.  Guests were also generous with their support of the HSC Foundation, taking part in both live and silent auctions that featured unique prizes and one-of-a-kind experiences like throwing out the first pitch at a Goldeyes baseball game, or travelling to Churchill to see polar bears in their natural environment.

"We believe that our success as a company brings with it a responsibility to give back to the communities in which we live and work,” said Kevin Van, Vice President of Qualico. "This is why we are proud to support the HSC Foundation and their efforts to improve health care for all of us in this province.”

Proceeds from Savour enable the HSC Foundation to help Manitoba families through promising new research, advanced technology, and training opportunities for HSC medical staff.
