February 29, 2016 – The Health Sciences Centre Foundation is excited to announce that the 6th annual Savour: Wine & Food Experience, presented by Qualico and in partnership with Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries, has raised over $185,000 to support life-saving care and world-class research at HSC Winnipeg.  This year’s edition of Savour took place on Saturday, February 27 at the Metropolitan Entertainment Centre.  Guests enjoyed a unique evening of food, wine, entertainment and décor inspired by Spain.

"It is great to be part of an event like this, where people come together for a fantastic evening with the purpose of bettering health care for our loved ones,” said Tina Jones, Chair of the HSC Foundation. "When people support the HSC Foundation at events like Savour, what they are really supporting are the families who rely on HSC for the best care possible.  I want to thank our guests, our generous sponsors and the Foundation staff and volunteers at who have put in many hours to provide us all with a memorable evening.  Because of you all, significant funds were raised to support the flagship hospital of Manitoba’s health care system.”

Those who attended the event truly had a taste of Spain, complete with live Flamenco music and dancers, Spanish-inspired food and of course Spanish wines.  Danny Kramer’s Dance Band had the dance floor filled, making for an unforgettable evening.  Guests were also generous with their support of the HSC Foundation, taking part in both live and silent auctions that featured unique prizes and one-of-a-kind experiences like throwing out the first pitch at a Goldeyes baseball game.

Savour: Wine & Food Experience is one of the HSC Foundation’s signature events.  Proceeds enable the Foundation to help Manitoba families through research, technology, infrastructure enhancements and health care education at the hospital. The Foundation provides over $400,000 in funding for new research grants on an annual basis and contributes millions of dollars to new facilities such as the Centre for Surgical Innovation.  To learn more about the HSC Foundation’s events and fundraising priorities, or to make a contribution, visit www.hscfoundation.mb.ca.
