Posted: October 8, 2015

October 8, 2015 – The Health Sciences Centre Foundation is pleased to announce it will provide over $265,000 in grants to eight new research projects this year. Awarding these grants is another way the Foundation continues its mission of supporting the men and women who provide health care at Health Sciences Centre, the flagship hospital of Manitoba’s health care system.
The grants were awarded through four different competitions: the General Operating Grant Competition, the Allied Health Grant Competition, the Dolly & Michael Gembey Nursing Research Award & Grant Competition, and the Mindel & Tom Olenick Research Award in Immunology Competition. Applications were reviewed by experts in their fields from HSC Winnipeg.  Click here for a full listing of the grants and this year's recipients.
"This year the projects being funded not only represent the top ranked applications from new investigators, they represent projects in some of the key areas of focus at HSC: diagnostics, psychology, immunology and surgery,” said Jonathon Lyon, President and CEO of the HSC Foundation. "The Foundation is proud to support projects like these that can lead to improved diagnosis, treatment, or care methodology for patients who need care at HSC Winnipeg”
This year’s grants and awards support projects that have the potential to impact diagnostics and treatment at HSC Winnipeg, and beyond.
Since 1981, HSC Foundation donors have provided over 55,000 square feet of dedicated research space to support the programs of over 370 researchers and health care specialists. The Foundation is proud to provide grants every year to support ongoing research at HSC Winnipeg. Calls for applications for next year’s grant competitions will occur later this fall.
